What are the EFT Tapping Points
“Tapping is one of the most effective ways to create immediate and lasting change in your life.”
What is EFT Tapping and TFT Tapping
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT), often referred to as "tapping," are evidence-based techniques that use psychological acupressure. These methods involve tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on particular emotions or issues.
These techniques aim to alleviate psychological stress and pain by stimulating the body's energy meridians, similar to those used in traditional Chinese medicine. Like acupuncture but without the needles!
How EFT Tapping and TFT Tapping Work
EFT combines elements of cognitive therapy and exposure therapy with physical stimulation of acupuncture points. Here’s a basic outline of the process:
Identify the Issue: Focus on a specific issue, whether it's an emotional problem, a physical pain, or a stressful thought.
Set a Statement: Create a setup statement that acknowledges the problem and expresses self-acceptance
Tapping Sequence: Tap on specific acupuncture points on the body while repeating a reminder phrase related to the issue.

What is EFT most effective for?
EFT for Anxiety and Stress
Clients find that EFT tapping offers significant relief from anxiety and stress. By tapping on specific meridian points, this technique helps to release negative energy and restore emotional balance, leading to a calmer and more centered state of mind.
Overcoming Phobias with EFT
Phobias can be debilitating, but EFT tapping can help. By addressing the underlying emotional triggers, this technique can reduce the intensity of phobic responses, allowing clients to face their fears with greater confidence and ease.
Managing Depression and Anger
Depression and anger can significantly impact one's quality of life. EFT tapping provides a powerful means of addressing these emotions at their core, helping clients to release pent-up negative energy and achieve a more positive and balanced emotional state.
Healing from Trauma
Trauma can leave lasting emotional scars, but EFT tapping offers a pathway to healing. This technique can help clients process and release traumatic memories, reducing their impact and promoting emotional recovery.
Holistic Solutions for a Range of Issues
In addition to anxiety, stress, phobias, depression, anger, and trauma, EFT tapping can also be effective for a variety of other emotional and psychological challenges. My clients report improvements in their overall well-being and a greater sense of control over their emotions.

How EFT Tapping Can Help You
FAQs
-
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), works by addressing the body's energy meridian system and reducing the emotional impact of memories and events that trigger emotional distress. Here are some reasons why EFT is considered effective:
Energy Flow: EFT is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, which suggests that the body's energy (chi or qi) flows through meridians. Tapping on specific points along these meridians while focusing on an issue is thought to help balance the energy flow and alleviate emotional distress.
Acupressure: Tapping on meridian points is similar to acupressure. Stimulating these points can help release blockages in the energy system, which are believed to be the root cause of emotional and psychological issues.
Psychological Exposure: EFT involves recalling and verbalising the emotional or traumatic issue while tapping. This process of psychological exposure can help desensitise individuals to the emotional intensity of their memories, reducing their impact over time.
Cognitive Shifts: By verbalising specific statements while tapping, individuals may experience cognitive shifts and changes in their beliefs and perceptions about the issue. This can lead to a reduction in negative emotions and an increase in positive thinking.
Neurobiological Effects: Some research suggests that tapping may affect the brain's limbic system and amygdala, which are involved in processing emotions and stress responses. By calming these areas, EFT may reduce the physiological symptoms of stress and anxiety.
Mind-Body Connection: EFT integrates the mind and body by combining cognitive and somatic techniques. This holistic approach can provide a more comprehensive healing experience compared to purely cognitive or physical interventions.
Self-Empowerment: EFT is a self-help tool that individuals can use on their own. This sense of control and self-empowerment can contribute to its effectiveness, as individuals feel more capable of managing their emotional health.

The frequency of using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping can vary depending on individual needs and the specific issues being addressed. Here are some general guidelines:
Daily Practice: For ongoing issues such as chronic anxiety, stress, or long-term emotional challenges, daily tapping sessions can be beneficial. This helps maintain emotional balance and reduce the intensity of symptoms over time.
As Needed: For acute issues like sudden stress, anxiety, or cravings, tapping can be done as needed. This could mean tapping multiple times a day whenever the issue arises.
Before and After Specific Events: If you know a stressful event is coming up (such as a presentation, test, or difficult conversation), you can use EFT tapping before the event to reduce anxiety. Tapping after the event can help process any residual emotions.
Consistent Short Sessions: Consistent sessions, such as 5-10 minutes of tapping in the morning and/or evening. This routine can help integrate EFT into your daily life and provide ongoing benefits.
For Specific Goals: If you are working on a specific goal, such as overcoming a phobia or improving performance, you might tap more intensively at the beginning and then taper off as the issue becomes more manageable.
Remember, the key is to be consistent and patient. The effects of EFT tapping can accumulate over time, leading to more significant and lasting changes. If you're new to EFT, it may be helpful to consult with a practitioner to develop a personalized tapping plan.

Where Did EFT Tapping Originate
TFT Tapping - Thought Field Therapy
Developed by Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Dr. Callahan's innovative approach combined elements of traditional psychology with concepts from Eastern medicine, including the meridian system used in acupuncture. TFT involves tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on specific thoughts or emotions to alleviate psychological distress. Over the years, TFT has evolved and modified, leading to the development of other tapping methods such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and others. This innovative approach aims to tackle a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges such as anxiety, trauma, fears, and negative thought patterns. By gently tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on distressing thoughts or emotions, TFT tapping seeks to restore the body's energy balance and promote emotional well-being. This evidence-supported method offers a holistic and non-invasive way to rewire the mind's responses and foster emotional resilience.
EFT Tapping - Emotional Freedom Technique
In the 1990s Gary Craig, a student of Callahan, developed EFT as a streamlined version of TFT. Craig's incorporation of his training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) led to the introduction of "healing scripts" to enhance the tapping process.. Through gentle tapping on specific energy meridian points on the body, EFT helps to alleviate emotional distress, reduce anxiety, manage stress, and even address physical discomfort. This evidence-backed technique has gained widespread recognition for its ability to promote emotional well-being and restore balance within the body's energy system. By integrating the mind-body connection, EFT tapping offers a natural and non-invasive approach to achieving emotional resilience and overall vitality.
